Halloween can be traced back to more than 2,000 years ago. Samhain (SAH-win), the day the Celtic people celebrated New Year’s Day, was on November 1. Demons and Spirits were said to walk the earth the day before, now known as Halloween. The Celts would dress up in costumes and perform acts for food and drink, in the streets. Jack o’ lanterns originated as turnips not pumpkins. They would hallow out the turnips and place candles in them to keep away the ghosts during Samhain.
Don't forget to bring your ghosts and goblins to the salon for trick or treating. I will be here until 7:00 pm.

Kevin and I will be diving in the Spokane River. The thought of it makes me shiver. Our instructor said the temp should be between 45 and 55 degrees. I am confident in my scuba skills and apprehensive about the cold water. Tropical diving sounds a lot more fun. Oh well, after this weekend, we will be certified for open water scuba diving.
I am closing the salon an hour early tonight (3:00 pm). Kevin, my husband, and I are headed into Spokane for our last scuba class. We will take the book test tonight and than finish the evening in the pool. This weekend we are going on our dives. I think we have two on Saturday and two on Sunday. I hope it isn't too cold. Oh well, our Arizona and Hawaii dives should be warm. We have lots of fun dives planned in the next two months. It should be a great end of the year.

I went to a class about website design in Newport yesterday. What a great class!!! I would like to thank the Newport Chamber for hosting the class. It was very informative and as you can see I have a website up and running in less than 24 hours.
